Specific applications

Application of Robotic Welding in Mooring Bitts

Mooring Bitts are key equipment used in ports and docks to fix ship cables. They withstand huge tensile forces and harsh environments. Their structures are usually made of thick steel plates, castings or welded assemblies, and have extremely high requirements for welding strength, weld consistency and structural reliability.

  • Circumferential welding of cylinder and base
  • Welding of fillet welds of stiffener plates
  • Execution of multi-layer and multi-pass welding processes

welding technology

Multi-layer and multi-pass welding

For thick plates and large-sized structural parts, the welds are filled layer by layer in layers and lanes, effectively controlling the heat input to meet the high-strength welding requirements of various types of mooring structures.

Workpiece form

Robot welding workpiece information

The customer wants to use a robot to weld mooring bitts. The following are the specific specifications of the workpiece.

  • Plate: 700mmx400mm (thickness 6.5mm);
  • Main cylinder: diameter 300mm, length 600mm;
  • Side cylinder: diameter 100mm, length 200mm;
  • Weight: 30 to 35 kg, the customer requires a load-bearing capacity of at least 50KG.

In response to this demand, we provide a robot welding solution for mooring bitts.

Operation process

How to operate?

The following is a standard workflow for robotic laser welding of mooring piles, suitable for automated welding production lines or custom workstations.

Robotic laser welding in mooring bitts

1. Workpiece loading and positioning

The worker places the workpiece on the workbench of the positioner, the positioner clamps the workpiece, and the corner cylinder presses it.

2. Automatic welding operation

When the workpiece reaches the weldable specifications, the robot automatically starts, the positioner automatically rotates to the best welding angle for welding.

The positioner flips the workpiece to the other side, and the robot continues to perform automatic welding to complete the full range of welding tasks for the entire workpiece.

3. Welding completion

After the welding operation is completed, the robot stops automatically. The operator unloads the workpiece and loads the next workpiece to be welded.

4. Repeated operation process

The whole process is carried out in a continuous cycle according to the beat, forming a stable and efficient welding production rhythm.
